It is indeed a shock and a unusual announcement made by Minister Botsa Satyanarayana on banning “Magadheera” film in the entire Vizianagaram district. This ban has been issued in the wake of death of five people at Sri Lakshmi theatre in Salur in the district a couple of days ago.
Magadheera Movie Stills

The Panchayat Raj Minister has used this as a reason to ban the film in the district and has also said the ban will be extended all over the state . He has used his political power and has ordered officials to see that film is not screened at any of the theaters . The reason being stated was the lack of safety in the screened theaters .He said that the producers should ensure that the film gets released in only good theaters. But the question is whether a producer can check all the 500+ screens and theaters where he is going to release his film.

This film has been in news for many reasons . The film has got good reviews and is doing wonders at the box office. The movie also had its share of controversies.  A writer claimed that the story is allegedly copied from his published novel ‘Chanderi’.  And one more writer Vangapandu Prasad accused that his lyric ‘em pillo yeldam vostava’ was used as backdrop for a dance bit by scantily clad item girl.  And a lawyer from Vijayawada filed against Magadheera film by saying it showed lawyers in a poor light.

This is the first time in the history of Telugu Cinema that a film is banned on Security Grounds. It seems like Politics and Personal gains have over taken Telugu Cinema. How come all the theaters where Magadheera is playing have bad facilities and all the other theaters where other films are playing have good ones. And it is known that Ravi Teja Aanjaneyulu movie is going to release tomorrow in many theaters all over the State, and how good are these theaters. As per Industry resources,  Satyanarayana and his relatives have funded for the movie Aanjaneyulu and he is seeing that the film does well by banning Magadheera.

What ever the reason is, the minister seems to have lost his mind in banning maghadheera from all the theaters.  If Security of film goers is the first concern of the Congress government,  then all the theaters all over Andhra Pradesh should stop screening films. All the theaters should be checked and then only a go through should be given.
